Eclectic Seating – New for 2014

This season I am excited to offer eclectic seating for ceremony sites and receptions. While I have always had a selection of chairs, benches and pews, I have expanded the numbers and I’m offering package pricing. Just tell me the number you need to seat and whether or not you want a mix and match of everything, or chairs only, and I’ll put together the perfect combination for your space.

This pricing will be $4 per chair/$5 per seat on bench or pew. There are 150 chairs available, seating for 26 on pews and another 10 on benches. And of course I now have the 12 matching 12 foot pews with seating for approximately 85.

Fall Wedding Inspiration – Blue Willow

I was involved, with an amazing group of wedding professionals, in a styled shoot inspired by the Blue Willow china pattern and the gorgeous colours of a Nova Scotia autumn. Thanks to each and every one of them for including me in this experience. It was cold and it was a long day from the time I loaded up a van, drove to the Annapolis Valley, participated in the shoot and drove home, but it was worth every minute. Here are the creds:

Elegant Productions – Lauren and Katelyn: http://elegantproductions.ca I had a chance to work with these two creative ladies a few times over the 2013 season and appreciate the business they sent my way and for suggesting Borrowed for this shoot. It was fun to see them in action, their organizational skills and how they made things seamlessly flow throughout the day. Who doesn’t need that on a wedding day?
Flowers: http://www.chelsealeeflowers.ca – when I saw those flowers in my cobalt bottle collection my heart stopped! If I had been on a chair I would have fallen off! And the bouquet, swing (THE SWING) and halo were equally amazing. She made sure every bloom was in perfect, photo worthy condition!

Maybe you’re not a country music fan, but I am. Die. Hard. I go to concerts whenever and wherever I can. I sing and play guitar. I buy downloads of songs and for about five years I purchased every single issue of Country Weekly. When I decided I wanted to train for and run a full marathon, it was the Country Music Marathon in Nashville that my sister, brother-in-law and I completed. So this quote from a Garth Brooks (yes I have seen him in concert) song was just the ticket to describe my latest yard sale find. Two perfect roseback side chairs. Of course they didn’t look quite like this when purchased, but with a little TLC, some new fabric and the talent of Karen Stanley Hamilton (upholstery expert) they are all prettied up and ready to go. I can hear them singing to each other now: “So draw the curtain, honey turn the lights down low. We’ll find some country music on the radio”. Wait a second, now they’re dancing. ALL the chairs are dancing. And just like that there’s a party happening in the shop.

A sucker for a pretty face

Sometimes I leave the house with a list of things I know or feel clients will be looking for. And come home, maybe with those things, but also with a few other bonuses. It doesn’t only happen when I am shopping for Borrowed. It happens pretty much every time I go into a store – grocery, clothing, whatever. Drawn in by the beauty, uniqueness or feel of a certain item.

So a couple of weeks ago I was visiting the antique shops in Great Village, Nova Scotia, which I tend to do at least every other weekend. I was looking for bottles, coloured glass goblets, bone china dinner plates…..and I came home with a stove!

My first reaction was that it was from the 50’s (mostly because of the colour) but my initial research on the Guelph Stove Co leads me to believe it is likely from the 20’s or 30’s. The colour is gorgeous and I can think of so many ways it could be used for wedding or wedding shower decor. Want to be the first to borrow this beauty? You can do that for $30 per event.
